Spanish Ladies Open Amateur Championship

02 March 2010

Following two rounds of strokeplay qualifying in testing conditions, all three of Ireland's representatives in the event have failed to progress as one of the top 32 qualifiers to the matchplay stages of the 2010 Spanish International Ladies Amateur Open Championship being played at Golf Platja de Pals, Spain, 3-7 March 2010.

Wednesday's opening round saw Danielle McVeigh (Royal Co. Down Ladies) sign for a score of 83, before play was suspended due to heavy rain.  This resulted in an  early return to the course on Thursday morning for Ciara Butler (Newlands) and Aedin Murphy (Carlow) pictured, who returned first round scores of 90 and 91 respectively.  Murphy, McVeigh and Butler all improved in the second qualifying round, played later on Thursday and signed for second round scores of 76, 79 and 84.  However, all three players remained outside the cut which fell at 152.  France's Lucie Andre was the tied leading qualifier, along with Anna Arrese Cortadellas of France with a one over par total of 147.
